History:

Jane was born in Arkham Massachusetts and had a very normal life until she moved to Westchester during the summer before her junior year of high school. She was something of an outcast, but more because she didn't care one way or the other whether she fit in or not than because she just didn't fit in. For reasons that have yet to be explained, Jane attacked and attempted to kill another student at Westchester for a very minor offense. She herself is not exactly sure what came over her. She was afterward expelled after an investigation, and later sent to a private Catholic girls school in a nearby county.

Although Jane didn't realize it at the time, the trauma of the incident at WCH triggered Jane's mutation, which had up to that time remained latent. Almost immediately afterward Jane noticed that insects seemed somehow attracted to her, but also benevolent. Mosquitoes wouldn't bite her for instance, nor would bees sting her. Butterflies and moths would land on her, as well as other "friendly" insects. In the beginning, she kept those that she had before been uncomfortable with from getting too close. In any case, she suddenly found insects fascinating.

Unnoticed at the time, and slower to develop were the physical aspects of Jane's mutation. She went off to Sacred Heart School for Girls, became more antisocial than usual and more 'friendly' towards insects. After a few months in the school though, she noticed a change in her body's performance, and a toughening of her skin. At this time she realized that she was a mutant. Finally, changes came that she would not be able to hide from the Sisters at the school. She began to notice exoskeletal growths on certain parts of her body, while her hair began to fall out. Finally, she planned an escape and ran away into a wooded area where she gave in fully to the influences of her developing mutation. Her eyes clouded and became blind for a few days, until they developed into what they are now. Her hair fell out and regrew in it's new state, and the esoskeletal growth became claws, including two stingers, on her fingers and toes, and spines on her elbows, and calves.

Jane became something of a feral insect huntress during her time in the woods, surviving in whatever ways that she could.. hiding by day, and hunting and scavenging by night with the help of her insect 'family'. Within a few months however, as her powers completed their development, she slowly regained her humanity and headed for the city, disguising herself with scarves and sunglasses and passing for just another homeless woman.

Jane became a mugger, moving from one subway station to another by attaching herself to the trains themselves. She was attacked one day by a group of mutant hunting fanatics who had heard of her and managed to track her down. She then helped save another mutant named Patchwork who had gotten involved in the fight and had been wounded. Through her acquaintance with Patchwork, Jane was afterward introduced to the feral mutant named Marrow and allowed to live in a special set of tunnels that were her territory. She has been with the Morlocks ever since, and can be found lurking here and there about the city, usually trying to get her next meal, or up to no good.
