Thor: The Movie

Script: by Peter Dimitriadis

Before we begin, I'd like to make a few comments in case anyone is stumbling on this page randomly.

First, many of the characters here are property of Marvel comics and used without permission. This is not an official movie script for the movie Thor by any means, merely what my own attempt might be like.

Second, this was done for my own amusement and to practice writing in movie script format, something I've never done before. As it's not intended for any form of publication, but mainly posted just for the sake of showing a few people, I only edited it to the point where I felt there were no major inconsistencies or gaffs, but not to a level I'd normally feel comfortable showing around. There are a few things I'm not especially happy with - I think I could have done with more variety in the enemies, I don't think I have the hang of writing action and description in movie scripts (what's there is usually sparse), and there were some points where I rushed because I was getting sick of it and wanted to finish rather than leave it undone forever. Also, I'm sure I slipped up a few times in the Asgardian diction, putting Thee's and Thine's in the wrong places or suddenly forgetting them entirely (yes, I included them, and an attempt to explain them). Finally, I'm not terribly familiar with New York, so some of the locations chosen might not make sense. If this were for more than amusement, I'd do more research on that, but it's not, so I'm sure there are things which would be obviously wrong or impossible to somebody who's actually been there.

I'm not a super fan of Thor. I don't dislike him, but I chose a character I didn't have a particular affinity for, and never read much of, to see if I could write a script based on him and try for a movie taking the elements that work and ignoring elements that don't. I also deliberately chose to inject a little of Ultimate Thor, but not overly so (in my head, the character looks more like Ultimate Thor, though). Thor purists may or may not like what I've done, but since it is an effort of producing a good comic character movie, which would have to please Thor fans, I hope nothing annoys them too much.

Throughout the story, I kept wanting to give Jane Foster more to do. I even tried to set up a few scenes where she would attempt to defend the hospital from the trolls using whatever she had available until Thor arrived, but I eventually scrapped those plans because I felt to keep them would make the movie too long. Oh well, she'll have more to do in the sequel. Speaking of, I also deliberately set a few things up for a sequel (which I've roughly plotted out but will not be turning into a full script form), although I never had a chance to have the Absorbing Man have a pre-prison cameo. And speaking of Cameos, in the tradition of Marvel movies, I did write one character with Stan Lee in mind. He should be easy to pick out even if I didn't mention it in the script.

With all that said, here's the script. Comments/flames (but please no lawsuits) can be sent to webmaster at unreachablestar.net.
