History:

Roxi tends to avoid any real conversation about what it was like growing up. The daughter of a wealthy, and well-known state congressman, in a family where dark hair and eyes were normal, her light coloring and blue hair wasn't exactly difficult to ignore. From the time she was born, Rachel and Burton never bothered to show their distain for their daughter. She was often ignored, often outcasted, and when her little sisters were born it only became worse.

When Roxi's powers began to manifest is when the real trouble started, as one can imagine that when crystal grows in a painfully slow process all over your bones, it's not something that can be easily ignored. That was when the beatings began, too, because Roxi became impossible for Burton to ignore. Even now there's really very little bitterness or hatred Roxi holds for her father, because she has a lot of self-blame for not being normal. That was all they ever wanted, and she knows if she wasn't a mutant she could have been just another one of the daughters, and nothing bad would have ever happened growing up. It wasn't too long after a not-great experience of the crystal virus manifesting itself, that Burton decided he'd had enough of his eldest daughter. He picked a boarding school in England, and sent her there. Roxi herself had mixed feelings about it, but in the end it was a good deal of a healing experience for her. While she was forced to endure teasing because of her hands, she began often wearing gloves, but she also met Gemma, her roommate who is still her best friend, and somebody who helped Roxi become more comfortable within her slowly disappearing body.

Highschool was finished quietly, but on a one-month workshop in Columbia for pre-admissions, Roxi came to the realization that there was no way she could go into acting. Because of her good grades she was able to get a scholarship, which was good because of the fact that her father had opted to cut her off completely from the family. In the winter of 2003 Roxi finally began classes at Columbia, but, much to her disappointment and frustration, while majoring in play writing. A number of other students and some of the teachers knew about her bizzarre crystal growth, and before the workshop had even finished it'd been decided she wasn't going to be proper'material' for the acting faction.

Roxi, ironically enough, has managed to get another young mutant, Paige Guthrie, as her roommate, and much of her time in New York has been spent attempting to learn more about her powers with the Brotherhood, and attempting to fight a losing battle with her desire to even continue on with school anymore. Every month her crystal 'infection' takes a little more of her flesh, and she's finding herself less and less sure about her future, and if she wants to spend the next four years sitting in rooms with people who don't even really like her.
