History:

Lisa Allerdyce, wife of Hector (Heck) Allerdyce, wanted a cat, originally. She wanted a kitten, in fact. Actually, Heck wouldn't have minded having a dog. But then Lisa got to thinking, and realized she wasn't as young as she used to be. She convinced her husband that they needed to begin their family. Heck, distracted by his work as a police officer in their hometown near Sydney, Australia, agreed, though he got her to wait a few months.

Johnny was a bright boy, easily entertained with small things. He adored to hear stories, and would make up his own to the pictures in books. John was terribly bright, and would come up with a question the teacher hadn't thought of an answer to. John became a competent liar, and more than once Heck had to discipline him for lying after he'd done something he shouldn't have. John wasn't whipped, but he was spanked. He soon learned that that was the worst that could happen, and Heck had to give up on that punishment since it didn't appear to be working or deterring John's problems.

John was often seen in detention, and with his flaring temper, he'd end up increasing his stay with his loudmouth. He was a smart alek, and still very bright. Teachers would shake their heads, he'd make something of himself if he'd keep his moodiness in check, they thought. John developed a strong bully streak. He wasn't large, but he was pretty tall, and tended to be able to turn a situation around and make those who might actually have been able to beat him feel ashamed of themselves or intimidated. John did fight, when the odds were in his favor, and he would win. John gained respect from the other boys, and pretty much disdain from girls as he entered junior high. He would belittle girls who had any interest in him, and make them feel rotten. He was a relentless pig-tail puller. But then puberty struck John, and stuck him hard. On his twelfth birthday, as he was blowing out the birthday candles, he'd been so focused on the candles, he felt something in his mind sort of tug, that hadn't tugged before. And, though not at all on purpose, the candles sparked, and an ember landed on the paper tablecloth that had been set out. And burst into flames. All the kids at the party hooted and ran off, some of them yelling bloody murder. John just stared at the table and the fire, his jaw slack. Everyone called it a freak accident, nobody suspected he was 'gifted' or a mutant. Not a bit, it was a freak accident, nothing more. John would end up exploring his powers further, much later. He really went downhill, and realized this, and tried to pull himself back up. He had developed a strong addiction to cigarettes, but he'd pulled the schooling around to where it should be. His social life suffered. John became more scary, though, to most of his other classmates. He was sort of a lone wolf that could beat you up if you smartmouthed to him or his or even answered a question in class that he wanted. When he hit 8th grade, though, his parents decided to uplift his world. They were going to move to America. New York, of all places.

Most of his classmates viewed him as an eccentric intellectual, though, and not really as scary as his past had been marked with. John made friends with several other high-achievers, though he tended to be a very bad influence on them, dragging them out to do something or other late at night. He helped other boys' grades drop, while his own were very good.

John didn't think he was a freak. He was thrilled and enthralled with his powers. He felt like Hercules... maybe he had some god's blood in him. Something. But his ego went through the roof, that he should deserve something his awesome. He kept it to himself, aware that he would be considered some kind of weird witch, but he avidly played and practiced. All through the summer before high school he had incidents. There was a field near the school used for baseball that he accidentally set on fire when he was sitting in it trying to practice, use the tall grass as a shield. Police suspected arson, and they'd be right.

John spent his spare time writing. He had lots of ideas in his head. He detested poetry unless it was dark or morbid, and didn't write his own. He as a fan of science fiction, mystery, and horror.

John continued his arson. And at the end of sophomore year, he was caught. He pled accident to the charge the principal bestowed, and his parents got him off light. Detention. In school, though, John had become a sort of hero, suddenly. He tried to burn down the school? Even by accident, that was still a wonderful idea! He was encouraged more than once, mostly playfully, to try again. It happened in particular right before tests. John still felt invincible. He'd set a fire, and been CAUGHT and nothing had happened!

At one point in Junior year, he accidentally set a girl's hair on fire when she was leaning over a budson burner. He'd helped her put it out, but he felt intense guilt for that. He hadn't meant to do that, just spook her and then be able to rescue her. She'd been cute before he'd burned a lot of her hair.

On the side, John worked on his book. And actually finished it. It would end up to be the first of a trilogy-- the "Death Peak" series, a murder mystery set for young adults, similar to 'RL Stine'. It was funny, John was outselling most other spooky young adult fiction of the time, yet he was getting a low B in English class.

John had an interlude with a girl that got him the nickname 'Pyro', from accidentily burning her on Prom when he'd lost his emotional 'cool'. Since then, he went to college. At University, he picked an English and Literature doublemajor, he wanted that under his belt. He spent his first year there, and learned the politics. That's where he met Natalie, and had a bizarre sort of fling with her, learning about other mutants, as well as Xavier's place and so forth. After a pregnancy scare, he dumped Natalie rather like a hot potato, assisted Eve when she had some trouble with several rapists, and has since then has been lurking about and debating about what he wants to do from here.... and if he's as bad and horrible as he keeps being accused of. And if he IS that bad... does he care?
