PSYLOCKE

Psylocke's player decided to retire the character, which means she's open for apping. She is somewhat different from canon, however, so check the history and you might want to talk with staff if you're interested in playing her (she could be changed to be more like canon, but it would require some sort of opening TP or something) Real name: Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock

Identity: Psylocke has no known connection to Elizabeth, being an astral projection who looks different.
Legal status: Citizen of the United Kingdom (Britain) with no criminal record, has a legal VISA allowing residency in the USA.

Place of birth: London, England
Marital status: Single
Known relatives: Brian Braddock (brother), Jeremy Braddock (father, deceased), Lucia Braddock (mother, presumed deceased)

History:

Elizabeth's story begins with her father, who was a professor of history and of the occult. He did a great deal of research into the Celtic myths, and several excavations and digs at the barrows of northern England. He was in his mid-thirties when one of his new students there caught his attention. Intoxicating, dazzling, she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. He fell deeply in love with the girl, and left his digging behind (exactly as she'd hoped) to marry her. He was from a very wealthy and old family...there was no trouble in that regard. The woman was no true woman at all, but something darker and more mysterious. Children came of their union, twins, a boy and a girl. But the mother "died" in childbirth...or at least that's what everyone believes.

She was a very pampered little girl, doted on by her father and by the staff at the manor. She had the finest of everything that money could buy, the finest clothes, the finest toys. Expert tutors came to teach the girl in a wide range of subjects (although she never applied herself overmuch there). She became rather spoiled and narcisistic, busying herself with her own concerns and largely ignoring her twin Brian.

Her mutant powers first manifested at puberty, like so many others. She found herself able to hear the thoughts of others...and with a little work, to do so many more things. At the same time, though, she started having bizarre dreams, dreams of a warrior-woman from another world. The dreams were very vivid and intense, and seemed, if anything, to make her more tired. At first the dreams were sporadic...every few weeks. Then they began to come more frequently. The doctors were baffled...there was no cause, and no explanation. They put the girl on sleeping pills, to help her rest, and that seemed to deal with the situation.

She received her first modeling offer at 16. The girl had grown up to be one of the most beautiful women in the world, and it didn't take long at all for her to be recognized as genuine talent and pure beauty. She rapidly rose to the top of her field, becoming one of the most famous and recognizable women in the world. She became exposed to the modeling world, and the money just started pouring in...as did the temptation. Given her use of sleeping pills, it didn't take much for her to try harder things...and in the last while, she's become quite addicted to some of the harder drugs. Her family's status and her own wealth made her eligible for one of the elite clubs in Britain...the London branch of the Hellfire Club. Hardly a place for moral virtue, her own morality dropped still further there.

However, a world away, there's another woman. You see, Betsy's telepathic powers were the things responsible for her dreams...as she subconsciously projected an astral twin of herself at night. She took on another persona...the warrior-woman Psylocke. And neither woman consciously knows of the other's existance. Each thinks the other is nothing more than a dream. Psylocke assumes that she is the chosen warrior of some deity, given her amazing abilities in combat, brought into being when the land has need of her. (Actually, it's just Betsy at night). She's trained for most every night for the last 8 years, with almost nightly battle against the forces of darkness. Psylocke knows that something odd is going on, though...(why she cannot determine exactly what, she's aware of the drug addiction, and wants to rectify it.)
