This is our 280th edition. Two books this week, including X-Infernus from last week. Reviews will be short as I'm running a little late.
This week we have...
Captain Britain and MI:13 #8 - "Hell Comes to Birmingham, Part Three"
(Writer: Paul Cornell, Penciler: Leonard
Kirk, Inkers: Michael Bair with Jay Leisten
and Craig Yeung, Colorist: Brian Reber)
(jump to last issue)
Captain Britain struggles to awaken from his fantasy, while the rest of the team fight off Mindless Ones while trying to avoid their own unique temptations.
Although much of this is similar to the last part of the storyline, which hasn't been grabbing me as a whole, this issue is a tick up in quality thanks to some really well orchestrated moments and a bit of genuine surprises. I'm making it my Pick of the Week.

Magik struggles to regain control of Limbo and/or find her soul,
while meanwhile Nightcrawler tries to find out more about Pixie's
magical abilities and her soul-dagger.
I'm always a bit wary when I find Cebulski attached to a project.
He's usually enthusiastic about the same characters as I am, and
yet I tend to be disappointed by the final result. Here, it's
good to see, at least so far, this is his best outing yet. It
flows rather well, and most of the characters feel like themselves.
Particularly Pixie, who is much closer to her personality from New
X-Men than she was portrayed in Uncanny. It does feel a little
light on content, but there's nothing in it that really annoys me.
That said, I don't know if I'll be sticking with it. Since M-Day
it's getting harder and harder to remain interested in anything
in the Marvel Universe, even when characters I like are involved.
There are only so many characters and Marvel tends to be interested
in big upheavals that change everything. So, we'll see. Maybe
I'll give the next one a flip-through in the store.

Well, that's it for this week folks. Next week, according to the
shipping list, it's a skip week, with nothing of interest to me.
See you next time...
