Emma makes a deal with Danger and many of the X-Men head out to destroy the Breakworld's planet-killing weapon.
It's really not working as well for me as it should. The delays are a serious factor. There are elements here to the plot that I can't remember because the last issue came three months ago, and so it feels like I've been dropped in the middle of a scene that I may as well not have started. In monthly books, the time is short enough that scenes like this still have a sense of flow to them, but when one stretches out to three, I find I have to reread, and at least in this case, I'm just not as interested in doing that.
Even beyond the issue of timing, this book didn't seem to have good narrative flow, whether due to the writing or the art or some combination of both.
There also wasn't as much of what is usually Whedon's specialty... great
dialog and memorable moments. Here, although there were a few decent
examples of each, nothing really stood out, and there were just as many
glitches (including a particularly strange turn of phrase from Beast)
So reluctantly, I'm going to give this one what is a fairly low score
for a Whedon book. Ah well, I bought the Serenity: The Collector's Edition

Well, that's it for this week folks. Next week, according to the shipping list, there's just one book, Teen Titans #50. However, since I'm on the edge of dropping the series as it is, and the comic store is a little out of my way, if nothing else turns up next week, I'll delay getting it until the week after.
